Catherine (“Cat”) Saunders is a San Francisco-based employment counselor. She is passionate about helping people achieve their career and educational goals. She has provided career counseling and vocational rehabilitation services in community agency, government agency, and higher education settings with diverse clientele. Cat is experienced in conducting individual vocational counseling and group sessions, as well as facilitating workshops and presentations on career development. Her approach builds on the strengths, resources, and interests of her clients while providing an educational foundation that will serve their career goals long after counseling is over.
Cat believes strongly in assisting those who face stigma while meeting their employment goals. Through job placement and career counseling Cat has helped clients navigate challenges associated with disabilities, mental wellness, substance abuse concerns, chronic homelessness, lack of academic success, and incarceration. In addition to her vocational work, Cat has a strong background in community organizing, social justice, and community based participatory research (CBPR) with lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) communities. Cat stresses the necessity of providing culturally competent services to underrepresented members of society.
